… at the end of our family session Meghan wanted to tie in a little mini nursing session to capture the bond she has with her baby girl and I was so happy we did, they turned out so beautiful!
Definitely an amazing way to capture that special time in their lives.

She’s back and cute as a chunky little muffin!
After taking a little break from taking on photo sessions to enjoy the summer with my kiddies before my oldest heads to kindergarten this september, I was not only refreshed but excited to meet up with Shand family again, this time for an evening family photoshoot.
The weather cooperated, the light was gorgeous and little Jayleigh had me laughing out loud with her funny faces.

I met Miss Meadows mommy about a year and a half ago, when I did photos of Meadow’s big sister Journey. She was my very first newbie and has graced my blog a couple more times since her debut!
This time I had the opportunity to visit their newest little addition when she was a mere 21 hours old for her NICU session. Two weeks later she was on her way home and a few days later she came to visit for another session!
I was so excited to hear she was coming home, and looked forward to her next session, thinking this little lady would be an “easy” newborn…
Nope she was wide-eyed and alert for her session, but at least she didn’t pee on me, just daddy lol!

Sweet little Ashlynn was just 11 days old when I got to meet her, she was sooo sweet and had such delicate features. I met her at her and her gorgeous parents at their home, this time for a lifestyle newborn session.
Mom had picked up a sweet little vintage suitcase awhile back at a garage sale and when I saw it I knew I had to use it! The fun thing about shooting sessions at the clients home is, that I can often find things to incorporate into the session to make it more personal. Now they have a reason to keep that little suitcase around. Maybe it will become a doll clothes suitcase, perhaps it will hold all the things her mommy and daddy want to keep, like her first painting she brings home from preschool. One day, her mom and dad will look at her and say to each other ”Can you believe she used to fit in this?”

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Harlund at his home. He sure made me work during his session. He was very strong, already holding his head up, and his mommy told me he rolled himself over in the hospital! Not only that, he had a neck! Now most little ones do not have a visible neck, it is mostly just head and shoulders, but not Harlund and he more or less decided that he didn’t want to hold any poses and would wiggle himself out of most I tried! It took a little patience, but in the end I think I won out and was able to get even a few “sleeping” shots!

This sweet little girl just couldn’t wait to meet her family I guess, and decided to make her arrival when her mommy was almost 35 weeks into her pregnancy.
I can only imagine what it could feel like having your baby in the NICU. The thought of not being able to bring that sweet baby home with you when you are discharged from the hospital makes my heart scream in pain, and that is just at the thought, my beautiful babies NEVER left my side and I am thankful for that everyday.
I am so very happy that I was able to capture sweet Meadow’s first hours of life. Here is a glimpse into her at just 21 hours old, at my first NICU session.
Grow fast sweet girl, I can’t wait to hear that you are on your way home!

I met Ally, almost 2 years ago when I started my journey into photography, when she replied to a craigslist ad i had posted looking to build my portfolio. She had been looking to have photos done of her daughter who was just 2 months old, and I jumped at the option to photograph my first “newborn”.
Fast forward 14 months and Ally is expecting another little girl and jumped at the chance to assist me during my spring mini sessions in exchange for a free session… let me tell you Ally totally earned that free family/maternity session, working along side me for TWO days in the rain, 6 months pregnant!
We scheduled her session just in time too, her little miss decided to make her appearance at just 34 weeks, just over a week after our shoot!

It’s Weston’s turn up on the blog this evening!
Mr. Weston came to visit me in my home studio just nine days after he made his entrance into this big crazy world and boy did he make me work for these photos…
Feeding EIGHT times, pooping and peeing all over all my props and his general dislike for being on his tummy was just the beginning of this extended session… but patience and persistence and a quick shutter finger paid off in the end!

Annie called me to book her newborn session with just a few weeks to go in her pregnancy {which is the perfect time to book, just incase you were wondering!} and was hoping that I would be able to fit in a last minute maternity session for herself and her husband too… I am super glad I could fit this gorgeous couple in, Annie had that pregnancy glow, and a beautiful little baby bump! Their little girl is gonna be gorgeous, I can’t wait to meet her!

Miss Elizabeth came to visit me at my home studio at just 3 weeks old.
She had very delicate features, a head full of gorgeous dark hair and a mommy and daddy that were just absolutely, had over heels, love with her. I had a great time chatting with her mommy while we waited for her to fall asleep, and when she finally drifted off I snapped away…
